Ian Worthington video courseIan Worthington, Frederick A. Middlebush Professor of History, recently completed the video course The Long Shadow of the Ancient Greek World. The 48-lecture course with over 700 visual elements on eight DVDs and CDs, was released by The Teaching Company in April 2009. The Teaching Company states that one out of every 5,000 professors from America is invited to design, write and tape a course after a rigorous selection process. The courses are targeted toward professionals and, like university-level courses, must be challenging, thought-provoking and stimulating. Worthington, who teaches a range of Greek history courses from the archaic to the Hellenistic periods, came to MU in 1998. In 2005, he won the Chancellor's Award for Outstanding Research and Creativity in the Humanities, and in 2007, he won the Student-Athlete Advisory Council's Most Inspiring Professor Award. His most recent book, Philip II of Macedonia, was published last year. Links:Ian Worthington The Long Shadow of the Ancient Greek World |
